I found that by removing the rear door trim 4 big philips head screws at the lh lower base of the trim then pull out the bottom and sides and lift up at the top to remove gave access to the door lock mech. Remove 7 screws from the door car 1 from behind the door lock handle 4 from the grab handle 2 from the bottom of the door. Last time it did it i gently hit the door skin in the area of the lock mechanism from the outside of the vehicle with the flat of my hand and it opened and has continued to work normally so far.

Ocassonally my passenger side rear door acts as if the childlock is engaged but won t even open from the outside either. Remove the 2 torx screws that hold the dust cover on top and bottom i could lift up the cover and see that the nylon bush that holds.
